The systems of the body are not the same on the left side of the body as they are on the right, and vice versa. This influences the way we stand, sit, walk, and even breathe. Pain often develops from overuse of one dominant side of the body. Treatment (occasionally interdisciplinary) aims to maximize neutrality in the body through manual and non-manual exercise techniques designed to reposition, retrain, and restore these asymmetrical patterned positions.
By addressing the underlying postural patterns, we can more effectively treat the patient, and at the same time teach them how to prevent further injury.
Postural Restoration is a highly successful treatment approach for problems that may arise from this sort of imbalance. PRI implements a home exercise based program designed to inhibit certain muscles on one side of the body and facilitate muscles on the other side of the body.
